Rochelle Johnson, MACP
Registered Social Services Worker | Associate
Rochelle Johnson (She/Her)
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is warm, empathetic, and client-centred, with a strong focus on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can truly feel seen and heard. I believe in building a trusting and collaborative relationship with everyone I work with. This allows for an exploration of their challenges and strengths, to help build self-awareness, and further develop practical life and coping skills. By personalizing my approach, I can support and help empower clients to cultivate resilience, self-compassion, and confidence to heal, as well as create lasting positive change in their lives.
I practice counselling/therapy using a trauma-informed, feminist/anti-racist and anti-oppressive, client-centred framework. My areas of knowledge and expertise are primarily based in trauma, attachment, somatic-based (body-oriented, nervous system, neurobiology) practices and human development. I also use biopsychosocial and intersectional approaches to inform my work.
In addition to talk-therapy, my work with clients often includes using various experiential techniques such as art-based modalities, guided meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and other mindfulness-based practices. I also focus on skill development, to aid folks in being well-equipped on their healing journey.
On A Personal Note
I enjoy practicing yoga + pilates, going for walks/hikes, reading/listening to books, listening to various forms of music, meditation, spending time with friends and family, being in nature (especially near water), cooking and baking.
