My Approach

When you meet me in session my first priority is to ensure you feel safe and heard. I want to welcome you to bring all the parts of you into our therapeutic relationship in a comfortable and compassionate space.

My life has been centred around helping people achieve their optimal state of wellness and functioning. I work in a client-centered, evidence-informed, and strengths-based manner. I hold the conviction that everyone possesses the innate capacity for self-healing; it is my goal to guide you, the expert of your life, towards your desired wellness level in the safety of the therapeutic alliance. Working collaboratively and without judgment, I aim to provide a highly empathetic and safe space. My core values include integrity, family, safety, and justice.

On A Personal Note

I feel happiest on, near, or in the water. It is not with surprise that my hobbies are sailing, kayaking, and generally being by the lake. I prefer challenging sailing and my husband enjoys calm seas, together we've got it all covered. My two awesome adult children are busy with university, it is such a pleasure to see them grow. I have a sweet older mutt named Moose and two wily kittens (Batman & Clementine), one affectionate and the other gorgeous but aloof. I often retreat to the forest when my batteries are low and find being in nature to be very healing. I love spending time with my family and adventuring.

I have a fiery spirit and enjoy challenges, I find routine onerous and I love spontaneity. I have explored many avenues of how healing occurs in folks including conventional evidence-based methods and more esoteric teachings such as mindfulness and reiki. I'm interested to learn more about the mind-body connection as I grow my practice.

Identities I Hold

  • 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming and allied

  • Feminist/anti-oppressive/anti-racist/social-justice oriented

  • Lived experience with chronic pain and illness (following a catastrophic incident)

  • “Neurospicy” (ADHD)

Just For Fun

  • My favourite colour is purple

  • My favourite seasons are fall and spring (I hate the cold!)

  • My “big three” astrological signs are Sagitarrius Sun/Virgo Rising/Taurus Moon

  • I love all 4-footed creatures, and if I had the space (and time), I'd end up with a farm at home.
