My Approach
I subscribe to an eclectic, anti-oppressive, inclusive, and client-centred approach to therapy. In short, what I hope you take away from that is that I would like you to show up in therapy just as you are, without having to mask or modify your story or any of the identities you hold.
We are all flawed, imperfect, well-intentioned humans just trying to get by. My promise is to bring respect, dignity, and safety to both our sessions and your lived experience. I tend to draw from various modalities of therapy, including emotion-focused, internal-family systems, trauma-informed, somatic, mindfulness-based, and narrative approaches. And, it's very okay if you don't know what any of that is, because you don't have to in order to "do" therapy! Whether you arrive with a goal (or goals) in mind, or have trouble even putting to words what brings you here, I vow to welcome everything that shows up in our space, and help you take it from there, one moment at a time.
My work is rooted in decolonizing and anti-racist practices. I am committed to understanding how the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, class, ability, body size, and age groups are experienced by my clients and the impact that power, privilege, and oppression has on their mental health and wellbeing. As a cis-gendered, heterosexual, white, Jewish therapist with lived experience with chronic illness, I am committed to understanding and acknowledging the ways my identities and privileges show up in my work with you. I strive to support my clients' autonomy by doing away with outdated patriarchal roles of the therapeutic relationship, and centring your innate skills, wisdoms, lived experiences and identities at the helm of our work.
On A Personal Note
I am a new mom, so much of my free time nowadays is spent re-authoring my postnatal identity. I am clumsily trying to balance my love of movement (dance, barre, yoga, pilates, swimming), personal and professional development, and spending time with friends and family. I love food, listening to music, design, reading, laughing, singing, and lots of time to myself.
